We Never Save or See Your Documents

All PDF processing on BatesStamp.com happens entirely within your web browser using JavaScript. Your document files are never uploaded to any server, never transmitted over the internet to us, and never stored on any external system. The tools work locally on your device. This ensures complete confidentiality and attorney-client privilege protection for all documents you process.

When you use multiple tools in a single session (for example, passing a file from the Bates stamper to the metadata stripper), processed files may be temporarily held in browser memory within that session. This data is never persisted to disk, never transmitted to us, and is cleared automatically when the browser tab closes.

Note: While your files are not transmitted, our analytics services (described below) do collect information about how you use the site.

We do not require account registration and do not collect personally identifiable information directly. Settings you enter (prefixes, fonts, colors, etc.) remain in your browser and are not sent to us.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit the site, our self-hosted analytics (Umami, described below) collects the following anonymized data:

• Usage Data: Pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, operating system, and referring URL.
• Approximate Location: Your IP address is processed transiently to derive a country/region and is not stored. No raw IP addresses are retained.

No cookies are set, and no data is shared with third-party analytics or advertising companies.

Description of Service

BatesStamp.com provides a suite of free, browser-based legal document tools, including Bates stamping, privilege redaction, document assembly, PDF metadata stripping, page extraction, PDF compression, watermarking, and pleading paper generation. All tools process documents locally in your browser.

Umami Analytics (Self-Hosted)

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics platform, to collect anonymized usage data. Umami does not use cookies, does not track users across sites, and does not retain raw IP addresses. The analytics data is hosted on our own infrastructure — it is never shared with Google, Meta, or any other third-party analytics or advertising company.

Fonts (Self-Hosted)

The fonts used on this site are served directly from our own domain. We do not use Google Fonts or any other third-party font service, so no font-related requests are made to outside servers.

pdf-lib (unpkg CDN)

This site loads the pdf-lib JavaScript library from the unpkg.com CDN to enable client-side PDF processing. Your browser contacts unpkg.com to download this library, which may result in your IP address being logged by their servers. No document content is involved in this request.

pdf.js (cdnjs / Cloudflare CDN)

Some tools on this site use pdf.js, developed by Mozilla, loaded from the cdnjs.cloudflare.com CDN. Your browser contacts Cloudflare's CDN to download this library for PDF rendering. SortableJS (cdnjs / Cloudflare CDN)

Some tools use SortableJS, a drag-and-drop sorting library, loaded from the cdnjs.cloudflare.com CDN. As with pdf.js, your browser contacts Cloudflare's CDN to retrieve this library. No document content is transmitted. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy for details.

JSZip (unpkg CDN)

Some tools load JSZip, a library for creating ZIP archives (for example, downloading a batch of stamped PDFs as a single ZIP file), from the unpkg.com CDN. As with pdf-lib, your browser contacts unpkg.com to download the library, which may result in your IP address being logged by their servers. No document content is involved in this request.

Cookies

This site does not use cookies. No analytics cookies, no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies of any kind.

Data Retention

We do not store your documents or any personal data. The only data retained is the anonymized, aggregate usage data collected by our self-hosted Umami analytics, which cannot be tied back to an individual visitor.

Your Rights

• Right to Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you. (Because our analytics is anonymized, we generally hold none.)
