About Converting Email to PDF
Why Printing an Email Loses Evidence
Printing an email from Outlook, Gmail, or Apple Mail — or exporting it to PDF from the mail client's print dialog — keeps the message body and drops everything that authenticates it. The Received chain that shows the path a message actually traveled, the Message-ID, the DKIM-Signature, and the Authentication-Results header are all discarded. If the authenticity of an email is ever challenged, that header block is what a forensic examiner or opposing counsel would need. This tool reproduces it verbatim in an appendix rather than throwing it away.
What a Certificate of Conversion Is For
Each converted PDF can carry a final page recording exactly what file was converted, its SHA-256 hash, when the conversion happened, and anything the tool could not faithfully reproduce — a missing embedded image, an attachment it could not parse, a character encoding it had to guess at. Disclosure of a limitation is not the same as silently dropping it. The certificate exists so a reader — a judge, a paralegal preparing an exhibit, opposing counsel — can see the full picture without taking the conversion on faith.
Full Header Preservation
The complete RFC 822 header block, including the Received chain and authentication headers, is reproduced in an appendix — not summarized, not trimmed.
Remote Images Blocked
Loading a remote image would notify the sender that the message is being viewed, with a timestamp. This tool never fetches them. Each blocked image, tracking pixels included, leaves a visible labeled placeholder.
Searchable, Bates-Ready Output
The body is rendered as real PDF text rather than a screenshot, so it is searchable and selectable and can go straight into a Bates stamping tool without an OCR pass.
Privacy First
All parsing and PDF assembly happens entirely in your browser. Your email is never uploaded to any server — suitable for confidential, privileged, and attorney-client correspondence.
What Gets Included
- Full header appendix: the Received chain, Message-ID, DKIM-Signature and Authentication-Results, reproduced verbatim
- Attachment manifest: every attachment listed with its SHA-256 hash
- Certificate of conversion: what was converted, from what source file, and what could not be faithfully reproduced
- Blocked remote images: labeled placeholders instead of silent gaps or a network request to the sender
- Batch conversion: convert many emails at once, delivered as a single PDF-per-email or one combined PDF with a table of contents
